Marqueur de temps

Marie-Lou Béland

"Erosion is gnawing away at the Magdalen Islands, just like the exodus of its youth. This short film is conceived as a mosaic of testimonies from elderly people about their vision of the future, in order to preserve their memory — like a lighthouse — before the sea carries them away."

Marie-Lou Béland

With an atypical background, Marie-Lou Béland began her career in filmmaking with passion and as a self-taught. Originally trained as a specialized educator, she returned to school to complete a BAC in cinema at UQAM. Her training in special education also colored her projects, her subjects, her desire to tell people’s stories, and her desire to make films that will have an impact on society, and perhaps change things for the better. Her studies in both the study of the human being and the study of the 7th art make her a person who wants to bring social messages to the Quebec’s public scene.
