Paris, July 1793. The situation is explosive and the Terror is in full swing. In the midst of this world of violence and change, one thing remains constant: women have no right to anything. Olympe de Gouges was one of the few who dared to speak out against this injustice. A woman of letters, a woman of combat, Olympe opposed Robespierre head-on. Arrested by the state police, she awaits trial in a prison. Among the other condemned women, Olympe continued to fight.

Julie Gayet is an actress, director, and producer.
Her acclaimed performance in The French Minister (Quai d’Orsay) by Bertrand Tavernier earned her a César nomination in 2014 for Best Supporting Actress.
While continuing her work as an actress, Julie Gayet’s natural curiosity led her to launch a career in production, founding Rouge International in 2007 and creating the Sœurs Jumelles Festival in Rochefort in 2021, dedicated to the intersection of music and image.
Alongside her artistic endeavors, she is actively committed to gender equality and the fight against violence toward women, notably through her involvement with the 50/50 collective and the Fondation des femmes.
Together with Mathieu Busson, she co-directed the three-part documentary series Cinéas(e)s, which explores gender in cinema for Ciné+.
Their most recent collaboration, Olympe: A Woman in the Revolution, is her first fiction film as a director.
