CINÉ-DÎNER RENCONTRES : From Direct Cinema to Social Media

From Direct Cinema to Social Media

Direct cinema is a uniquely Québécois invention, born in the early 1960s out of a wave of technical and philosophical experimentation. Its goal: to capture reality as directly as possible in order to share diverse ethnographic, sociological, and political experiences.
This film talk invites us to reflect on the evolution and democratization of image and sound recording tools — and how, today, these tools allow anyone to represent themselves and tell their own stories.

🎞️ This discussion echoes the screening of Les Inconnus de la terre, shown just before at 11:15 AM — a documentary shot in Lozère by Michel Brault two years before Pour la suite du monde. The film is also part of our Focus on Occitanie series.

🎤 With: Denys Desjardins, Carol Faucher, Éric Michel, and Guillaume Sapin

This activity will take place in French.

📅 Wednesday, August 20 to Sunday, August 24
