Chantal (60 years old) picks up Suzanne (92 years old) to go to the hair salon where she works. Once there, Chantal is intercepted by her boss who asks her to give him what she owes him. But this week, she has no money for him… This week, she has a surprise for him.

Rachel Graton

Rachel Graton, a graduate of the National Theatre School, is a multi-talented actress! Since graduating, she has divided her time between acting, writing and directing. On the small screen, she has appeared in five seasons of Au secours de Béatrice, in the popular series Les Simone, directed by Ricardo Trogi, as well as in Faits divers, Portrait-robot, Un lien familial and Sans rendez-vous. In the theater, she has performed in the main theaters. In recent years, she has played roles in Une vie pour deux, On ne badine pas avec l’amour, Le prince des jouisseurs, Le Tartuffe, Assoiffés, Bilan, Les Serpents and Le roman de Monsieur Molière.


Someone’s Trying to Get In

Colin Nixon

In the midst of an immigration crisis, BERTRAND (40), a Haitian asylum seeker, enters Canada as a last resort. Waiting at the immigration camp, the lone traveler keeps to himself, although NELI (9) begins to crack his shell. As rumours of mass deportation begin to spread amongst asylum seekers, Bertrand awaits nightfall to escape into the woods. In a nearby isolated country house, JESSY (32) is obsessively surveilling his property through his hunting cameras. Growing paranoid about an usual dot in incoming images, he neglects keeping an eye on his epileptic daughter MADISON (9), angering his wife ALEX (34). Unsettled, Jessy leaves the house for his night shift.Getting in bed, Alex is alarmed by Madison who hears unfamiliar noises from outside.

Colin Nixon

As his love for cinema is colored with his engagement in nonprofits, Colin seeks to merge fiction and documentary into his films. Raised bilingually in the Eastern Townships, he studied cinema at the Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe before graduating from the UQAM in 2015.

Romane Lepage

Aurélie returns from a long trip to find her friends and ex-boyfriend in a cabin full of memories. Her sudden departure has left its mark on their relationship, which was already suffering after their participation in protests and strikes. Following a non-linear structure in which the pieces of the puzzle are revealed through a subjective atmosphere, Burning Away is about young adults dealing with the consequences of their reckless actions, as well as the complexity of reuniting with loved ones.

Romane Lepage

At the end of her studies at UQAM in cinema, Romane Lepage won the award for best graduation short film. Since then, she works as an assistant director and explore the in-between areas of human relationships in her projects of short films.

Adèle considers the prospect of becoming a mother, all the while mourning the passing of a time she doesn’t want to leave behind. Fluctuating between resistance and abandon, she strives to confront the very emotions that she’s drowning in.

Clara Prévost

A 2015 graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada, Clara Prévost has appeared in over a dozen plays. In fall 2023, she won the Olivier Reichenbach Award from the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde for her portrayal of Viola in La nuit des rois.

With her company Productions Fil d’or, she writes, directs and produces plays and short films. In 2020, she directed her first short film, L’un l’autre, which not only screened at several festivals, but also won four awards at the Gala Prends ça court! 2021. Her second film, Entre-deux, played at the Festival Off-courts in Trouville-sur-Mer, France, and won two awards at the Gala Prends ça court! 2023, including the Telefilm Canada Award.
