Excerpt

Diane runs her family’s small farm in the Eastern Townships, close to the U.S. border. Separated from her partner, she looks after her teenage daughter and can count on the support of her two sisters, who also live on the property. The sudden death of the father of the family has left Diane in unfinished mourning. For some time now, she has been developing an acute form of paranoia, barricading herself in for fear of falling prey to ghostly creatures. Disturbed by strange visions, she is even convinced that the deceased is prowling the house. Worried about her daughter’s mental state, Angèle interrupts her stay in Florida and returns to Quebec as a matter of urgency.

Guy Édoin

Guy Édoin’s fifth feature, Frontières, was shot on the director’s family land, as was Marécages, his powerful debut feature released in 2011. Here, the filmmaker finds himself in several hyper-realistic scenes depicting the daily life of a farm, to which are added – a first for the filmmaker – accents of horror suspense featuring the protagonist grappling with disturbing ghostly apparitions. The latter is played by Pascale Bussières, collaborating with Édoin for the third time.
