Anna Kadykova

Anna Kadykova (aka Anna Bawa) director, photographer, artist
Anna was born into a family of ping-pong players and Labrador breeders. She grew up surrounded by plants and animals, which shaped her tender feelings toward nature and a deep curiosity about non-human life. In between ping-pong trainings, she devoted herself to reading, sketching, and watching the slow dramas of the natural world unfold.
She considered studying landscape design but ended up in photography, drawing, and eventually film. ANANASI is her film made entirely in Sri Lanka — a hand-drawn musical short about a pineapple, friendship, dance and the infinity of life.
She likes the ocean, surfing, beach walks, and continues to collect strange and joyful observations of the world.
