There’s Abdel, whose quiet life is turned upside down by the arrival of his extrovert cousin, whom he takes in for the summer; Fatima, who longs for a more stable existence and is trying to get away from her bad company; Toussaint, who, on a fishing trip, finds a bottle washed up with a message inside.
There’s also Naïma, Maya, Ayoub and the others, a pastel castle lining the freeway, electric cicadas, a monolith and very powerful rays. A fresco mixing fiction and documentary, Les rayons gamma is a dramatic comedy filmed with young people from St-Michel district of Montreal.

Followed by a discussion with director and  screenwriter Henry Bernadet and co-writer  Isabelle Brouillette.

Henry Bernadet

Henry Bernadet holds a bachelor’s degree in cinema from Concordia University, and has directed a dozen short films. He also works as a director on comedy series and documentaries. À l’ouest de Pluton, his first feature film, was selected for over 80 festivals worldwide. Years after its release, the film is still considered by many critics and film buffs to be a landmark of Canadian independent cinema.
