At the helm of Productions du Rapide-Blanc since 1984 as president, director, and producer, Sylvie Van Brabant leads this company known for meaningful documentaries, co-produced notably with the NFB. A filmmaker for 30 years, she explores themes such as the acceptance of differences, women’s health, and the environment, particularly in Planetary Visionaries (2009). In 2023, she completed Après la Romaine, Chip Chip, and L’École autrement, and is currently filming a feature on impermanence, co-directed with her daughter Katerine Giguère. She has also been an advocate for auteur documentaries for 20 years, having served on the boards of Hot Docs, the ARRQ, and Doc Québec.
